I appreciate it can expected for even a well-cared coat to have a few small knots, but when l’m presented with more substantial matting, there will be an extra charge. I will attempt to de-matt a coat, only where I feel the dog will not suffer any pain. All of my grooming services adhere to go beyond the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which states that it is an offence to cause animals pain or discomfort and I reserve the right to refuse to do anything I may think be detrimental to your dog’s welfare. When a dog is presented to me in a severely matted condition, with the dogs welfare in, it is then our police to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. I consider shaving an act of kindness. This will be discussed during your consultation. I will never attempt to de matt an elderly or aggressive dog.. Thank you for your understanding Matting leads to many skin conditions *Eye and ear infections *Flea infestation *Fungal and bacterial infections *Hot spots and sores *Maggot infestation *Mites and Lice *Moist eczema *Severe itching *Skin rash *Urine and Faeces scalding *Yeast infections. If you require help and advice on how to care for your dogs coat between grooming sessions, Please do ask, I will be more than happy to go through an individual schedule suited to your dog. Prevention is better than the cure, so don’t wait until your dog is knotted and matted again, book regular appointments in advance, to ensure your dog always feels good and is well cared for. Please note; our normal grooming charges do not include de-matting and where I make an attempt, there is an additional charge and the groom may take longer than the normal time allowed.
All dogs must be up to date with their flea and tick treatment. They can easily be spread between dogs and can still be in the salon after the dog has left. If a dog is found with fleas or ticks we will need to make sure the salon is cleaned correctly to stop the spread to other dogs. This will include specific equipment being used, and time meaning we may have to cancel other appointments. If your dog is found with fleas or ticks, there will be an added charge on top of the groom, I might cancel the groom before starting or during the groom if fleas and ticks are found.
